New Delhi, March, 9 : The Lok Sabha was
today adjourned till 1200 hrs amid vociferous protests over demand
for reservation for poor, Dalit and Muslim women in Lok Sabha and
state Assemblies.
As soon as the House met for the day, members of Samajwadi Party,
Bahujan Samajwadi Party and Rashtriya Janata Dal, led by Mulayam
Singh Yadav and Lalu Prasad, trooped into the well of the House,
demanding reservation for the poor, Dalit and Muslim women.
The protesting members raised commotion during Question Hour, disrupting
the proceedings of the House. They did not allow Deepender Hooda
and Jyotiraditya Scindia(both Congress) to speak.
When some of the members got too close to the podium of Speaker
Meira Kumar, Congress members rose to their feet in protest.
Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee with folded hands urged Mr Mulayam
Singh to ask protesting members of his party to not to climb the
podium of the Speaker and lead them back to their seats.
Though the agitating members alighted from the podium, they continued
with their protests, leading to the adjournment of the House till
1200 hrs.
